IPL 2020: Exciting young talents you NEED to keep an eye on

The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2020 is just around the corner!

IPL has always been like a factory, churning world-class talent for the Indian national team. Despite our Indian cricket possessing a robust domestic system like Ranji Trophy, Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, Deodhar Trophy, Vijay Hazare Trophy, etc, IPL has still launched cricketers to new heights. Many cricketers like Hardik Pandya, Krunal Pandya, Ambati Rayadu, Axar Patel, Yuzvendra Chahal, and many more have been a find of IPL only.

Today we look at a few young upcoming cricketers who are expected to make their debuts in the upcoming season. If the proper investment is made upon them, they will definitely be seen in blue jerseys in the near future.

Yashasvi Jaiswal (Rajasthan Royals)

The 18-year-old Yashasvi Jaiswal’s name stands apart as one of the upcoming cricketers to watch out for. The U-19 star was the best player for India in the U-19 World Cup. He was the highest run-scorer in the World Cup. He then made a record of becoming the youngest cricketer to score a List-A double century. He smashed an impressive 203 off 154 balls against Jharkhand in a Vijay Hazare match.

There was a biding war for the young man as he was signed by Royals for ₹2.4 Crore. We might see him get a start as well in the absence of Ajinkya Rahane.

Ravi Bishnoi (Kings XI Punjab)

Ravi Bishnoi, along with Yashasvi Jaiswal, was one of the finds of the U-19 World Cup. He was the highest wicket-taker of the World Cup.

Bishnoi’s quick bowling action will be extremely fruitful in T20 and especially on UAE pitches. He was bought by the Kings XI Punjab for ₹2 crores. He will be under the watchful eyes of India’s leading wicket-taker in tests Anil Kumble.

Priyam Garg (Sunrisers Hyderabad)

Priyam Garg happens to be another U-19 World Cup find. Garg was the captain of the U-19 World Cup team that steamed their way to the finals.

Garg has already played in tournaments like Ranji, Vijay Hazare, and Syed Mushtaq Ali at the tender age of 20. He also has a double century in Ranji Trophy, hence is fairly tested. He was bought by Sunrisers for a decent sum of ₹1.9 crores. He can provide assistance in the middle-order of SRH.

Kartik Tyagi (Rajasthan Royals)

The U-19 talent continues to make their presence felt in the IPL auction. Another such young talent happens to be the medium-pacer Kartik Tyagi.

He has been playing in the Vijay Hazare Trophy for almost 3 years and represented India at the U-19 CWC. He was bought by Rajasthan Royals for ₹1.3 crores. He can be a key asset to the Royals’ bowling lineup along with Jaydev Unadkat as they have a lot of foreign seam bowling options.

Ishan Porel (Kings XI Punjab)

Ishan Porel showed immense calibre in the previous edition of U-19 World Cup as well. He is known for his pace and can bowl both bouncers and yorkers at will.

He was bought by KXIP for ₹20 lakh. Porel along with Mohammed Shami and overseas players like Mohammed Shami, Hardus Viljoen, Sheldon Cottrell, and Chris Jordan, will be a dangerous bowling lineup.

World-class foreign talent as well!

IPL is not only known for its Indian talent. Many foreign cricketers like David Miller, Shaun Marsh, and Chris Morris have made their place in national teams on the basis of their IPL performances.

Josh Phillipe (Royal Challengers Bangalore)

The 22-year old Aussie has been creating some buzz around the year. He was a part of Sydney Sixers that won the Big Bash League. Phillipe scored around 500 runs. RCB can use him in the middle-order and even as an opener in place of Parthiv Patel as Phillipe can keep as well.

Daniel Sams (Delhi Capitals)

Daniel Sams made a name for himself at the Big Bash League as well. Sams took 30+ wickets in the Big Bash League playing for Sydney Thunder. He can be a handy batsman as well.

Tom Banton (Kolkata Knight Riders)

The Englishman actually made his name from the Big Bash League. Banton was recently selected in the England T20 team against Pakistan. He made a quickfire fifty while opening the innings. Banton can also handle middle-order, hence KKR can use him sparingly in place of, maybe Eoin Morgan if he’s unavailable.
