Manchester City and Liverpool are in a race to sign Wolves winger Adama Traore

Manchester City joins the race with Liverpool to sign Wolverhampton Wanderers winger Adama Traore. According to multiple reports, Wolves are forced to offload one of their star players due to the financial crisis by the Coronavirus pandemic.

Adama Traore joined Wolves in 2018 for a club-record transfer fee of £18 million. In his first season, he was just used as a substitute. His speed, dribbling and strength always caught the eye but he was also criticized for his decision makings.

Last season he found himself scoring 4 goals with 9 assists in Premier League. He had the most successful take-on in the Premier League [184] and also in the Europa League [43]. Traore is now considered as one of the best wingers in the Premier League. Recently he was also called up for Luis Enrique’s Spanish national team.

Wolves’ owners Fosun International have been hit hard by the Coronavirus pandemic. So they have informed manager Nuno Espirito Santo that he will need to sell one of his prized assets in order to fund new signings this summer.

Wolves were keen to sell Mexican striker Raul Jimenez. But Nuno wants the goal poaching striker in his team next season. After Jimenez, the biggest name on the team right now is Adama Traore. So Nuno wants to cash in on Traore.

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp and Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola are huge admirers of Adama Traore because of his pace and ability to take on defenders. So now they want him in their projects.

Manchester City has already signed Ferran Torres for £24m from Valencia. Liverpool is now searching a back up for Mohammed Salah to stretch their squad. Both the Premier League giants both are keen now to sign the La Masia (Barcelona’s youth academy) graduate for around £30 million. It remains to be seen who wins the race for Traore’s signature.
