Noise Tune Active review: Is it worth a buy?

Noise is an Indian brand which has gained some popularity in the Indian wireless earphones market in the last few years. They recently launched ‘Noise Tune Active‘ in January 2020.

So, I decided to try out their Bluetooth neckband ‘Noise Tune Active’ as it is one of the bestsellers on Amazon till now. I ordered it on Amazon for Rs 1,299. I got it delivered four days ago and I have been using it since then. So now, I would like to share my review on this product.

Connectivity

The Noise Tune Active Bluetooth neckband comes with the latest version, Bluetooth 5.0. It offers more stable connections and increased wireless range with the latest Bluetooth technology.

It also offers dual simultaneous pairing. With the dual pairing feature, you can connect the Noise Tune Active to your laptop and smartphone at the same time. Suppose you are watching a movie on your laptop and your phone rings. You don’t need to disconnect from your laptop and connect with your smartphone. The Noise Tune Active automatically switches to your phone. So this feature is really helpful.

For connecting the first time, turn on the Bluetooth of your phone. Then, when you first take out the neckband you need to power on the device and you can find ‘Noise Tune ACTIVE’ in the list of available devices on your phone. Tap on it and connect for the first time. It is super easy to connect and the next time onward it automatically connects to the last connected device, given the Bluetooth is turned on.

The latest Bluetooth technology also makes sure that there is no delay in the sound. There is almost no latency. So in this price range Noise has provided a great connectivity feature.

Design and build quality

The design and build quality of the Noise Tune Active is quite good. The packaging design is also very attractive. It does not look cheap even if not premium.

The Bluetooth neckband has magnetic earbuds. So that they snap together conveniently around your neck when not in use. It prevents it from falling down your neck. The Noise logo on the earbuds gives it a premium-like look. It also features silicone wingtips. The ergonomically designed wingtips give a secure fit to the earbuds in your ears. It also makes it comfortable enough to wear it all day. It comes in handy when you’re exercising or playing some sports. You can even run while wearing these and use it in the rain, thanks to its IPX5 rated waterproofing.

Personally, I have a problem using in-ear earphone for a long time. But the earbuds of this neckband is good enough to use for a long time and the wingtips made it easier to wear all day.

Now, coming to the build quality part. Not even once will the material feel cheap. Form the neckband to the wire connecting the earbuds and finally the magnetic earbuds and wingtips, everything looks as well as feels good. So the overall design and build quality are quite satisfying.

Audio quality

This is the main part of the review. The main feature of a Bluetooth neckband should always be the audio quality. The Noise Tune Active features a 10mm dynamic driver.

Frankly speaking, the sound is quite clear but the main problem for me is that even when I played it on full volume it doesn’t get too loud. For the maximum earphones available in the market, the 60-70% volume is enough for daily use and if you turn up the volume your ear can’t bear that loud sound. But it’s not the case with the Noise Tune Active. It never gets too loud even at full volume.

The bass quality is up to the mark. Though expecting a good bass at this price range is not fair, but still, Noise has provided a good bass quality. The overall sound quality is good with clear sound and above-average bass quality. The only downside is that the sound isn’t loud enough.

Battery backup

Noise claims that the Tune Active will provide 10 hours of playback time. So I used it for quite a long time to test its battery backup. The result was quite satisfying. The battery percentage dropped to only 50% from 100% after using it continuously for 4-4.5 hours. So in total, it does justice to Noise’s battery backup claim.

But now comes the most surprising part. When I was testing the battery backup, I was using it continuously for a long time. When the battery percentage showed 30%, it suddenly started showing low battery and turned off. It didn’t last beyond 30%. So this is a big disadvantage. So now, I charge it whenever it goes below 50% to avoid such things.

It takes around 30 mins to charge from 50% to 100%. So the charging is quick enough. But it doesn’t last beyond 30% and thus reducing it’s playback time to 6-7 hours.

Full-featured remote

You can manage music playback, adjust volume and even answer and reject calls using the remote on the neckband. You don’t need to take out your phone for such things. There is also a multi-function button in the middle of the remote. It is used to turn on/off the Noise Tune Active by long-pressing it. You can even summon Siri or Google Assistant by pressing the button. So Noise has provided a well-featured remote.

Pros and cons

ProsCons
Great connectivityNot loud enough even at 100% volume
Clear sound with above-average bass qualityTurns off at 30% charge
Good design and build quality
Average battery backup

Verdict

Personally, I feel at this price range of Rs 1,299 the Noise Tune Active is worth a buy! Although it doesn’t get louder even at 100% volume, it is loud enough to hear all the sounds clearly. Despite turning off at 30% charge, it provides 6-7 hours of battery backup which is average. You can’t really complain at this price range because overall the Bluetooth neckband is above-average.

If your budget is under 1,500 you can definitely buy the Noise Tune Active. But if you can spend a few more hundreds you can check the review of boAt Airdopes 171 or Redmi Earbuds S which are available for Rs 1,799.
