HRX is an Indian company owned by Hrithik Roshan. It has been around for the last few years and has gained popularity for its wide range of products including sportswear, accessories, backpacks and shoes among other things.
HRX has now collaborated with Flipkart and has launched new audio products on Friday, 19th June. I have previously used bags from HRX and was very satisfied. So, I decided to try out their new Bluetooth speaker: HRX X-Boost 5T. I ordered it on its launch day for Rs 1199 from Flipkart. Within 3 days I have got it delivered, which is pretty fast in this Coronavirus condition.
I have been using this speaker since yesterday and I have loved this small beast from the very start. I would like to share my experience with you and tell you why I loved this speaker.

Connectivity
HRX has given the latest version of Bluetooth 5.0, which provides seamless connectivity. It is very simple to pair with your device.
For the first time, you need to turn on the Bluetooth of your device. Press the ‘Power’ button for 2-3 seconds and the speaker will turn on with a sound. Then select ‘HRX X-Boost 5T’ from the list of available devices and it’s ready to use. From the next time, after you turn it on, it will automatically connect with the last connected device, if the Bluetooth is turned on.
You don’t have to be a tech-savvy person to use this Bluetooth speaker. You can summon your favourite voice assistant at the touch of the multi-function button. Also, the controls are easy to use for answering/rejecting calls, play/pause, previous/next track and volume up/down.
Design and build quality
The design of this speaker is quite unique, at least I haven’t seen this type of speaker before. It is beautifully designed to give the maximum advantage of the 6 modes LED technology. The material and finish of the speaker also feel premium. At Rs 1199 you can’t expect anything more.
It is built for outdoor use so you don’t have to worry about accidental falls, though it has a hanging cord to help you from dropping it. It is IPX5 rated so it takes a splash of water in its stride, just as easily as dripping sweat.
Audio quality
It has a power output of 5W and is packed with a 40mm dynamic driver. Honestly, I am pretty amazed by its sound quality, which is awesome in this price range. The sound is clear and loud. Due to its 5W power output, I thought it would be a mediocre one. But HRX has proved me wrong!
The bass quality is also good, you won’t be able to complain. If you’re listening to pop music you can feel the pumping of the beats as well. You can hear the words crystal clear. I felt it has a soft taste to music, means it will please your ears. So if you’re a metallic fan, then maybe you have a point to dislike this speaker. But overall, I am liking this small beast.
Battery backup
HRX claims it will last for 7 hours of playback. It comes with a 1000 mAh battery, which gives above par battery backup.
I used it for 2-2.5 hours straight at a volume of 60-70% and the battery percentage only dropped from 100% to 70%. It lasted for a total time of around 6-6.5 hours. So HRX’s battery backup estimation is almost correct.
The charging is also quick. While writing this review, I am charging the device. In 15 minutes it went up from 70% to 90%, but it’s stuck at 90% for the last 20 minutes. So I guess, it will take a little bit of extra time to get to full charge.
6 mode LED technology
The thing which stands out for this speaker is its 6 modes LED technology paired with the loud and crystal clear sound. There are 6 modes of light and you can even turn off the light as per your mood. At first, I thought you can’t turn off the light so I was a little bit worried cause the blinking lights don’t suit your every mood. But later I found out that you can change the light modes accordingly, which is pretty awesome!

Cons
This speaker doesn’t really have many cons. You would love this small beast from the very start. But personally, I felt if there was an AUX or USB port it would have been nice. Maybe to give it an IPX5 rating HRX has omitted these connectivity options.
Another point, I made a call using this speaker, but unfortunately, the person on the other side couldn’t hear my voice properly. My voice was echoing and was full of noise but on the other hand, I was able to hear that person’s voice pretty well. So I guess the microphone of this speaker isn’t that good enough to make calls.
Verdict
For me, this speaker is an absolute value-for-money product. Not many Indian brands can offer you such an awesome portable Bluetooth speaker at just Rs 1199.
It ticks all the right boxes, at least for me as I was looking for a speaker with crystal clear and loud sound along with good bass quality. The battery backup was also one of my criteria. This speaker gives you a bonus 6 mode LED technology. So it’s a win-win situation from every angle.
