Xiaomi finally releases it’s custom UI MIUI 12 today and it’s official. Along with the release, it also informed, there are over 310 million active users monthly of MIUI and its latest version is the only mobile OS that passed TÜV Rheinland’s “Android System Enhanced Privacy Protection Test”. Though, the rolled out version is in Beta.
So, lets jump to the exciting features.
MIUI 12 introduced new live wallpapers called “Super Wallpapers”. At the lock screen, you can get a space view of Mars or Earth, as you set, in motion. When you unlock, it instantly zoomed in to provide an areal view of the planet.
The planet time will change depending on which mode your device has. To be clear, if the dark mode is on in your device, the planet’s areal view will be of the night time.
Dark Mode 2.0
In Dark Mode 2.0, Xiaomi improved visibility, especially for texts. When you turn on the dark mode, the UI automatically adjusts the text’s nature like weight, boldness, color, and more.
A Wallpaper dimming feature is also introduced. It automatically dimmed when daylight will go.
Animations and Gestures
If you are expecting a lot of new animations and gestures, then you will not get disappointed. New animations for floating window preview of recent apps are added. The navigation gesture of running apps is the same as Android 10. And the app icons can now generate real-time feedback. In addition, real-time weather animation is also present there.
Developers changed the visualization of your system status and named it “Sensory Visual Design”. You will find all your device storage details, app usages, and other info in a new style.
The company gives a high priority to Privacy in MIUI 12. As I mentioned earlier, this is the only mobile OS hat passed TÜV Rheinland’s “Android System Enhanced Privacy Protection Test”.
In the app permission section, two options are placed, one for giving permissions only once, and the second one is given permission only when the app is in use. In the second case, all the given permission will withdraw automatically.
Lastly while sharing a photo, the OS erases all the device details from it for additional security.
Xiaomi upgrades its AI Phone assistant, Xiao AI to answer phone calls. The language in which the assistant will answer can be set manually. But, for now, no information is available if this feature will available outside China or not.
MI Health improved its activity tracker with new AI Algorithms. They also added sleep tracking capability without taking the help of external devices. You just need to put your phone under your pillow when you go to sleep.
