Real Madrid has been interested in Kylian Mbappe for a long time now. They haven’t hid their admiration for the World Cup winner. Club president Florentino Perez has been wanting to sign him since he was a teenager playing for Monaco.
Real Madrid coach Zinedine Zidane is a World Cup winner for France himself. Zidane and Mbappe hail from the same country so Perez is hoping that Zidane can influence Mbappe’s move to the Bernabeu.
PSG value their forward very highly and are unwilling to part their ways with the Frenchman. Although Mbappe hasn’t renewed his contract with PSG which ends in 2022 and he has given a few hints about joining Real Madrid someday.
Former PSG midfielder Jerome Rothen said Mbappe had almost signed for Real Madrid before the Coronavirus pandemic halted the 2019-20 season.
Rothen told Radio Montecarlo: “I know from club sources that a deal to take Kylian Mbappe to Real Madrid was almost done. But with what has been happening, I’m sure that Mbappe’s arrival at Real Madrid will be postponed.”
“There is no way that Mbappe will extend his contract with PSG. They will have an agreement between them in place because PSG agreed to let him go this summer. In my opinion, it’s just a question of time.”
It seems that Perez’s wish is finally going to come true. He has started building another team of Galacticos at Real Madrid. Hazard joining Madrid this season was the beginning of that phase. If Mbappe follows him to the Bernabeu next season it would be a huge boost for the 13 times Champions League winner.
