2020 HP Envy 17m with Ice Lake Core i7, 12 GB RAM, 512 GB SSD, & GeForce MX330 available for $1250 USD

HP has revamped its 2019 Envy 17 which was already having pretty specs like Wi-Fi 6, Core i7 Comet Lake-U CPUs, along average GPU performance. But the design which included an optical drive made it look a bit boring.

In 2020, HP has totally redesigned the 2020 Envy 17m-cg0013dx and will begin shipping later this month according to HP. The laptop now features 17.3-inch FHD IPS backlit multi-touch display with 86% screen-to-body ratio with 100% sRGB colour gamut.

On the hardware front, you get an updated Core i7-1065G7 Ice Lake CPU to replace the Comet Lake-U one. This is paired with 12 GB of removable DDR4 RAM along with 32 GB Intel Optane Memory support and 512 GB Intel SSD.

The laptop is very sleek and has narrow bezels, the new design makes the laptop lightweight than before, now weighs around 2.7 Kg. The dedicated GPU has also got an upgrade, now features the newer GeForce MX330 GPU with 2GB GDDR5 VRAM to replace the older MX250 graphics.

The new model has dropped the RJ-45 port while retaining the Wi-Fi 6 feature, while the full-size, backlit keyboard is great to have. For security, there’s the Fingerprint reader, mic, camera shutter along with dual speakers and audio by Bang & Olufsen. The laptop supports both Alexa and Cortana voice services.

The battery life seems promising as HP was that the 55 Wh battery can give you 11 hours of battery backup. The cheaper configuration ones will soon be available on HP.com and the company assures that a 4K UHD display variant is on its way as well.
