Steam always arranges a seasonal sale every year, but the current one was massive as per record because the Autumn Sale has coincided with the Cyber Monday weekend and Black Friday. This sale attracted a huge number of returning players as well as the new Steam users.
According to a Steam track of benchmark, this sale exceeded the previous events of Steam, gathering a record amount of revenue for the publishers and developers. It’s really difficult to identify how many games are getting success on Steam. There on Steam, several games are grossing at least $10,000 all the way up to $1,000,000.
Valve revealed that due to the pandemic situation people are involving with gaming with all types of devices being inside the home which led nearly one million players spent money on Steam for the first time in the time of the Autumn Sale. Compared to the previous year’s Autumn Sale, this year 7 million more concurrent players have logged on.
Steam stated that some of the sale’s success was beyond its control, listing “the ongoing quarantine, new games finding success, older games finding fresh momentum.” One of the biggest success-reason was Among Us, which was released in 2018. Whereas, Cyberpunk 2077 is said to be a controversial release due to plenty of bugs and now they are making refunds.
The upcoming big event from Steam is the Winter Sale, which could begin on December 22 to merge with the final round of voting for the Steam Awards.
