Virat Kohli heaped praise on Rohit Sharma who hit his 4th hundred of the 2019 Cricket World Cup.
Rohit was named man-of-the-match for his 104 as India beat Bangladesh to reach the semi-finals.
Rohit Sharma is now the leading run-scorer in the 2019 World Cup with 544 runs.
Only one other batsman – Kumar Sangakkara – has hit 4 hundred in a single edition of the World Cup. Rohit made Bangladesh pay with some sensational stroke play on a flat pitch.
“I have been watching it for years now, I have been saying it publicly, in my opinion Rohit is the best one-day player,” Kohli said at the post-match presentation ceremony. “When he plays, we are heading towards a big score and it really helps with the way he’s playing.”
Rohit Sharma on Tuesday scored a record 4th century of the ongoing World Cup 2019 against Bangladesh at Edgbaston. Putting on a scintillating 180-run partnership in just 29.2 overs with KL Rahul, who hit a 50 of his own, Rohit smashed the Bangladesh bowlers all over the park before falling to part-time Soumya Sarkar just after reaching his hundred.
Rohit also hit 5 huge sixes to go along with 7 boundaries.
Rohit scored an unbeaten 122 in a tricky run chase against South Africa before hitting 140 against Pakistan. His 102 against England went in vain in Birmingham on Sunday but 2 days later, Rohit returned to the same venue to score a match-winning hundred.
Virat Kohli also doffed his hat to Bangladesh who came close in their chase of 315. Shakib Al Hasan set it up for his team before some lower-order hitting made India nervous in the closing stages of the game.
