India start the World Cup 2019 with a win.

India won the first match of World Cup 2019, England and Wales. India defeated South Africa by six wickets.

South Africa won the toss and opted to bat first. India bowled superbly.

Injury-ravaged South Africa brought spinner Tabraiz Shamsi into the playing XI.. They are playing with two allrounders Chris Morris and Andile Phehlukwayo. South Africa’s pace spearhead Dale Steyn was ruled out of the World Cup Tuesday due to a shoulder injury, while Lungi Ngidi too is nursing a hamstring strain.

India made good use of the new ball, as Jasprit Bumrah took two wickets. Bumrah took the wickets of experienced Hashim Amla and in form Quinton de Kock. Both were caught out in the third sleep.

Wrist spinner Yuzvendra Chahal took 4 wickets. Chahal bowled out two of them.

Ms Dhoni stumped Phehlukwayo.

Kuldeep took one wicket. Bhubneshwar took two wickets in the last over of the innings.

India restricted South Africa for 227/9.

While batting India lost Shikhar Dhawan in the fifth over. Dhawan made 8 runs of 12 balls.

Virat Kohli was not very comfortable with the bat. South Africa kept bowling in his weak zone and got his wicket. Kohli made 18 runs. KL Rahul came to bat at no. 4.

Rohit Sharma stood at one end and batted till the end. Rohit Sharma scored his 23rd odi century.

Rahul and Rohit took charge and made a partnership of 85 runs. Rahul was timing the ball well. He played a half batted shot and gave his wicket to Rabada.

MS Dhoni batted well. Dhoni started the innings from where he had left in the warm up match. Dhoni scored 34 runs with two boundaries.

Rohit scored 122 runs from 144 balls. He hit 14 boundaries and 2 over boundaries.
