Intel to launch new Pentium Gold CPU with up to 4 GHz clock speed

Intel’s new Pentium CPUs with up to 4GHz clock speed is the answer to AMD’s successful Athlon 200GE APU

Starting 2019 with the announcement of new 9th gen CPUs Intel spread out a lot of positivity with its customers. They also unveiled their upcoming 10nm Icelake CPUs and promised to bring it this year.

Apart from all this, one thing that Intel forgot is that they failed to satisfy its consumers at the budget segment. As we all know how costly Intel CPUs have become since the last quarter of 2018.

So, at this situation to keep withhold it’s slipping position against AMD, the blue team has decided to refresh its Pentium line of processors. Not any huge improvements but yes there are higher clock speeds along with hyperthreading.

Following the same “Tick-Tock” method of improvement, Intel this time is trying to be more aggressive by launching about 4 variants of Pentium processors and 3 variants of Celeron processors.

The top end variant in this massive lineup is the dual-core, four-thread Pentium Gold G5620 processor with a clock speed of 4 GHz and a TDP of 65W.

On top of the budget flagship here’s the other processors that were listed by the European retailers:

  • Pentium G5420 with two cores, four threads and a clock speed of 3.8 GHz,
  • Pentium G5600T with two cores, four threads and a clock speed of 3.3 GHz,
  • Pentium G5420T with two cores, four threads and a clock speed of 3.2 GHz,
  • Celeron G4950 with two cores, two threads and a clock speed of 3.3 GHz
  • Celeron G4930 with two cores, two threads and a clock speed of 3.2 GHz
  • Celeron G4930T with two cores, two threads and a clock speed of 3.0 GHz

As for now there are no news about the cache memory or the iGPU of the chips. Though there are news about Intel’s recent struggles with the 14nm++ manufacturing process, so the availability of these chips is a bit unsure.

Well, there’s no word on the pricing however both Futureport (a Finnish retailer) and ISO-Datentechnik (Danish retailer) have listed these processors as releasing some time mid-March but without any pre-order price tag.
