AMD launches their new 2nd Gen Ryzen 3000 Mobile processors

Finally, at CES 2019, AMD shows off its new 2nd Gen Ryzen Mobile processors aka Ryzen 3000 Mobile processors based on ‘Zen+’ architecture

After a lot of rumours and leaks, AMD has finally shown off something. It’s not officially announced by Dr Lisa Su but yes they have listed their new mobile processors on their site as of now.

The key disadvantage of the first gen Ryzen mobile series processors was not as efficient as its competitor Intel was, but yes they were expectedly powerful enough.

The Ryzen 3000 Mobile processors

Instead of making chips based on 7nm, AMD has made the new 2nd Gen Ryzen Mobile Processors based on 12nm micro-architecture or based on the ‘Zen+’ micro-architecture.

Also, the first gen Ryzen mobile processors were not fully optimized and lacked major driver support which AMD claims that they have fixed with the new Radeon Software Adrenalin Edition.

The new AMD Ryzen™ 3000 Series Mobile Processors are expected to deliver best-in-class performance, a brilliant entertainment experience, and state-of-the-art features as well as offering impressive performance improvements.

Here are the specs of the new Ryzen 3000 Mobile processors:

As we can see there is a new leader i.e the Ryzen 7 3750H, with 4 cores & 8 threads, which I think will be mostly used in gaming laptops. It has a high TDP of 35 Watt, base clock frequency of 2.3GHz and a turbo up to 4GHz. Also, it has Vega 10 graphics along with 6MB of L2+L3 cache.

Also, there are the Ryzen 5 3550H with the same TDP of 35 Watt, with same 4 cores & 8 threads. For graphics, we have the Vega 8 graphics and 6MB of combined cache.

Both of the new CPUs have higher TDPs that will help during intensive gaming. Also, the cache has been increased considerably and now have higher clock frequencies.

Coming to the other variants of 3700U and 3500U, both of them will feature the same 4 cores and 8 threads with TDP of just 15 Watts. Both have received higher clock speeds and will have 6MB of L2+L3 combined cache.

For the lower end, we have the Ryzen 3 3300U that will have 4 cores and 4 threads this time with 2.1GHz base clock speed and up to 3.5GHz on the turbo. The chip will be accompanied with 6MB of cache and Vega 6 graphics.

There will two new CPUs namely the Ryzen 3 3200U and Athlon 300U, both will have 2 cores and 4 threads. For graphics, both will have Vega 3 graphics, with Ryzen 3 3200U having higher frequencies. Both will have 5MB of huge cache memory with as low as 15 Watt of TDP.
