Dell Latitude 7400 14-inch 2-in-1 laptop launched with ExpressSign-In

Dell announces the new Latitude 7400 14-inch 2-in-1 laptop ahead of CES 2019 that automatically wakes and unlocks the PC with your presence

After the promising year of 2018, Dell is ready to start this year with a bang! Ahead of the biggest tech show of the year i.e. the CES 2019, Dell has announced their new Latitude 7400 2-in-1 laptop.

Now, why is it different? The signature of this laptop is that it has the ExpressSign-In option that automatically wakes and unlocks the laptop with your presence. Sounds interesting right?

Dell clarifies that this laptop is intended for business users. It is claimed to be the world’s smallest commercial 14-inch 2-in-1 laptop.

The company also even says that the laptop is completely new from the ground up and even boasts of new features like the Cat. 16 Gigabit LTE, ExpressCharge that claims to offer up to 80 per cent charge in just an hour.

Without further ado let’s discuss the specs of this laptop:

The Latitude 7400 2-in-1 will be available in new Titan Gray finish. This means it will have a machined aluminium body with a hairline brushed design. The weight of the laptop will start at just 1.36kg.

As this is a 2-in-1 laptop, so it can be tilted around and even used as a tablet. For the thermals Dell has implemented the GORE material, infused by an aerogel, similar to what NASA uses.

The laptop bears a 14-inch touch display with a full-HD (with 16:9 aspect ratio) resolution. The display has got anti-reflective and anti-smudge treatments and is toughened by Gorilla Glass 5 protection.

Coming to the power, this business-oriented 2-in-1 laptop with the new 8th gen Whiskey Lake series of CPUs. You can configure this laptop up to 16 GB of LPDDR3 RAM and 1TB of M.2 PCIe NVMe SSD. The lapto depends on its integrated Intel UHD 620 graphics.

You can even buy Dell’s Active Pen for drawing and other productivity related work. Another notable thing is that the laptop has narrow borders on all sides which makes it much more gorgeous even than its last year’s XPS 13.

Despite this fact, Dell has managed to fit both the webcam and the infrared camera for Windows Hello face recognition on the top, where it actually belongs.

Talking of the connectivity the Latitude 7400 packs in two USB Type-A 3.1 (Gen1) ports, two Thunderbolt 3 ports (Type-C), a full-sized HDMI port, SIM card slot on few models, a microSD card reader, a SmartCard reader, and finally a Noble Wedge Lock slot.

It has dual-band 802.11ac Wi-Fi with 2×2 MIMO antennas, Bluetooth 5.0 support, and also an option for an LTE version with Cat. 16 Gigabit LTE speeds. This business-oriented laptop is secured with ControlVault 3 for hardware multi-factor authentication and even programs like VMware’s Workspace ONE which comes pre-installed.

Also, the laptop is ‘Skype for Business‘ certified and has been equipped with stereo speakers with MaxxAudio Pro support.

Coming to the signature of the laptop, the ExpressSign-In option, as told earlier, helps your laptop to automatically wake up on your presence using the built-in proximity sensor. The sensor has a maximum range of 5 feet.

The Dell Latitude 7400 uses a combination of Intel’s Context Sensing Technology and Windows Hello, to automatically authenticate the user.

So, when you are not near your laptop it will automatically lock the laptop and put to sleep. This will genuinely save a lot of power of your laptop.

Honestly, this is a truly unique, beautiful and productive laptop. Dell Latitude 7400 2-in-1 will go on sale in the US in March. It will have a starting price of $1,599 (approximately Rs.1,11,100).
