Microsoft to bring their new Surface Laptop 2 equipped with the latest 8th gen Intel CPUs starting at $999
Among a bunch of new products, Microsoft unveiled the 2nd generation of their previous year launched Surface Laptop. The Surface Laptop, which is a premium laptop, received positive feedback from Indian customers last year.
So, this year Microsoft has continued their legacy by launching the Surface Laptop 2 globally and eventually will land in India soon.
Specs:
The basic design of the laptop remains the same as its predecessor, with 3:2 display with a 13.5-inch PixelSense screen in 2256 x 1504 pixels (201 PPI) resolution. The display of the laptop also supports 10 point multi-touch.
Coming to the performance, the Surface Laptop 2 packs up to a quad-core Intel Core i7 processor and up to 16GB of DDR4 RAM. For the storage, we have the PCIe NVME SSD based storage, from 128GB to 1TB capacity.
Like its brother, Surface Pro 6, this one too lacks a discrete graphics card and ThunderBolt 3 port. This means the Surface Laptop will also depend on the inbuilt Intel UHD graphics. Plus, there’s no option to add an external graphics via ThunderBolt 3 port, which is very annoying for such a premium end laptop.
For the connectivity, you get a full-size USB 3.0, a regular headphone jack, a mini Display Port and the proprietary Surface Connect port.
Microsoft did not reveal the battery specs of the laptop and only claims a hard to believe 14.5 hours of local video playback.
Price & Availability
This time, the Surface Laptop 2 will also have a new black finish that feels more premium and elegant. Also, there will be a colourful teal, burgundy options along with the grey variant. The Black variant both looks and feels different from other ones, it has a classy and elegant touch.
The Surface Laptop 2 is now available in selected markets, and you can configure the notebook from $999. Though it lacks some important hardware specs, still it’s not a bad deal either.
