TOTTENHAM HOTSPURS star, Harry Kane overtook Lionel Messi to be crowned Europe’s top scorer for 2017 with an astonishing 56 goals. However, he has quite a way to go to match the record, set by the Barcelona star in 2012.

For the 1st time in 8 years, someone overtook Ronaldo and Messi to be the top scorer of a calender year. Messi was set to be the top scorer of 2017 again. But Kane scored a hattrick in his last game of 2017 against southampton and reached his tally of 56 goals. Knae scored a stunning 8 hattricks in this year. It is greater than the combined tally of Ronaldo, Messi, Lewandowski, Aguero and Cavani combined.

To top off his phenomenal year, Kane also broke Alan Shearer’s long-standing record for most Premier League goals in a calendar year (36) in the Southampton smashing.

However, the stunning 56 strikes for 2017 is still the lowest “most goals” tally in Europe’s Big Five leagues this decade.
