Virgil Van Dijk has commented on his Netherlands teammate, Jurrien Timber, praising his talent and ability at such a young age. The youngster is shining at Ajax, and was linked with a transfer to Manchester United as well.

However, his Ajax teammate Lisandro Martinez ended up joining the Premier League side as well. Van Dijk has said that Timber is much further ahead in his development than he was at his age.

“I wasn’t nearly as far along as he is now [at the same age],” said the Liverpool centre-back when asked about Jurrien Timber. “I have nothing but praise for him. He is a great player and a true professional.

“He has so much potential. Hopefully he can develop further. Then it will be all right, I think.”

The Netherlands U21 team also has a bunch of exciting talents, one of them being Jeremie Frimpong. The youngster is excelling at Bayer Leverkusen, and is expected to be a huge talent for the future. Ghana are trying to recruit him for the senior level, since he can change his allegiance as he hasn’t made his senior debut yet.

The same applies for Tariq Lamptey, who is also an option for Ghana as his chances of being selected for England are slim right now.
