Chelsea are closing in on an agreement with Kendry Paez for a transfer down the line. The Independiente del Valle midfielder is very highly rated and has attracted interest from several top clubs in Europe.

But as things stand, Chelsea are leading the race to sign him. He is only 15 years old right now, and will only be able to leave South America when he turns 18 years old based on the legal restrictions. The move, as a result, is still years in the making and he will still have to spend a few years with Independiente before he makes the move to Europe.

The youngster scored 16 goals in 18 matches at youth level for Independiente last year. He also received the Player of the Tournament in the 2022 Salzburg Next Gen competition, garnering a lot of appreciation for his performances.

Confirmation from the two clubs regarding the move is still pending. And Chelsea will have to hurry up if they want to secure their target. The main reason being that there are almost a dozen clubs from England and the rest of Europe willing to sign him.

The West London side have made a habit of signing players aged 23 and under, with 11 out of their 16 signings this season under 23. Kendry Paez will be the latest young midfielder to join their ranks, after Andrey Santos, whose work permit issues have delayed his debut by half a season.
