The 15-inch MacBook Air’s 50% delay in shipments due to its uninteresting appearance

Although shipments are approximately 50% lower than expected compared to the previous month, the 15-inch M2 MacBook Air has received generally favourable reviews from the tech community. A number of factors, including the overall decline in the global laptop industry, may contribute to the larger MacBook Air’s poor sales.

At its WWDC 2023 event, Apple made the decision to introduce both the new Vision Pro headset and the new 15-inch MacBook Air. The new MacBook Air is visually comparable to the 13.6-inch MacBook Air but has a larger physical factor.

The reason behind less sales of the 15-inch MacBook Air

The larger 15-inch MacBook Air features the same casing as the 13.6-inch model but a larger 15.3-inch display. Before the device was released, there wasn’t a 15-inch MacBook with a comparably lower price. It’s true that the tablet costs a little more than the 13.6-inch model, which should have boosted interest in the 15-inch device.

The 15-inch MacBook Air shipment fall for July was 50% less severe than expected, according to Twitter leaker Riceball. The user claims that the reduction is due to weak sales, which have caused the global laptop market to contract. Apple, however, has continuously defied market trends in the face of diminishing sales. A perfect illustration of the situation is the company’s iPhone line-up.

The $1,299 pricing of the 15-inch MacBook Air could be another factor. Currently retailing for $1,099, the 13-inch model costs $200 less than the larger variant. Users can choose a higher-end, more performant machine despite the somewhat greater cost compared to Windows laptops. The dynamics may have changed had Apple updated the 15-inch MacBook Air with an M3 chip made using TSMC’s 3nm manufacturing process.

So, it is not that 15-inch MacBook Air is not that much preferred, the only problem is that if users are paying a good amount then they want something good in return.
