## The Story: Spies, Secrets and Two Identities

The drama unfolds over 100 days during the Japanese occupation of Korea. Lee Ga Kyeong is the best pickpocket in Gyeongseong, which is present-day Seoul. She becomes an undercover spy for the independence movement and infiltrates the Japanese Government-General of Korea.

There, she becomes tangled up with interpreter Kim Tae Woong, who goes by the name Sato Hideo. He is the adopted son of Sato Shinichi, the Inspector-General of Korea and the second-highest official in the administration. After returning to Korea for the first time in roughly 10 years, he takes on an important assignment as an interpreter fluent in Japanese, English and Korean. A spy and a man living between two names: the romance is complicated from the very start.

## What GOT7’s Park Jinyoung Says?

Ahead of the premiere, [Park Jinyoung](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Got7) described the drama’s biggest strength as its web of connections. Each character’s emotions and story are intricately linked, much like a spiderweb, within the world of their era. He called it a story he wants everyone to know.

He also reflected on what he felt while reading the script. For him, it reinforced how important it is to understand our past while living our present. He added that the drama offers a way to indirectly experience a time that we never lived through, and he asked viewers to give it lots of love.

That sincerity is worth noting. Historical dramas can sometimes feel distant, yet his words suggest this one aims to connect personally with modern audiences, not just entertain them.

## Why It’s Worth Watching?

First, the creative pedigree. Director Yoo In Shik is known for emotionally rich, popular series, so expectations are high for how he will handle spies, romance and history together.

Second, the casting. Kim You Jung, a familiar and beloved face, plays a clever thief-turned-agent, a role that promises both charm and tension. Opposite her, Park Jinyoung’s character carries a divided identity and a past he has been away from for a decade. Add Jin Sun Kyu as the powerful adoptive father, and the emotional stakes are layered.

Third, the format. A story set across exactly 100 days creates a ticking-clock feeling, where every deception could be uncovered at any moment.

While you wait for the premiere, you can watch Park Jinyoung and Jin Sun Kyu together in *The Witch*, or see the actor’s film *Hi-Five*, both on Viki.
