CES 2020: Samsung Portable SSD T7 Touch with Fingerprint Scanner launched

Apart from launching its notebook, M.2 NVMe SSD, Samsung also announced its Samsung Portable SSD T7 Touch, a portable SSD that is secured by a fingerprint scanner. Previously also Samsung launched their potable SSDs and this too is a sleek one having a compact design with fast transfer speeds based on the USB 3.2 Gen 2 standard.

Obviously the unique feature of this product is the new biometric authentication system that secures your data stored in the SSD and can be retrieved by authenticating using the built-in fingerprint sensor. It also features a ‘Motion LED’, which allows the user to determine the status of the device simply with a single glance.

Samsung says that the T7 Touch brings the first built-in fingerprint scanner to their own portable SSD lineup on top of password protection and a secure AES 256-bit hardware encryption. There are can be up to 4 registered fingerprints to access the SSD.

The South Korean giant is offering the T7 Touch SSDs in three different storage variants including 500GB, 1TB and 2TB.

The Samsung Portable SSD T7 Touch has won the ‘CES 2020 Innovation Award’ not only because of its uniqueness but also the fact that it is 94% faster than the previous generation drives with reading speeds of up to 1,050MB/s and write speeds up to 1,000MB/s. 

It comes with both USB Type-C-to-C cable and a USB Type-C-to-A cable and is also compatible with Windows, Mac and Android operating systems. Being such portable and sleek this SSD also looks good with its titanium casings in black and silver finishes.

Talking about its price, Samsung has priced the 500GB, 1TB and 2TB variants at Rs.11,999, Rs.18,999 and Rs.36,999, respectively. The Samsung Portable SSD T7 Touch series will be available in more than 30 countries worldwide by this month and will be launched in India in February.
